At Bar Hill we pride ourselves on our International links. One in three of our children come from overseas families and we have 32 different first languages spoken at the school. These international roots coupled with clear and strong British values contribute towards a rich and vibrant learning community - this was recognised by the British Council when they designated us as an International School.
To compliment our international community, we have a lot of partnerships with international organizations spanning the globe. Our long-term partners include:
- George Mason University, Washington DC
- University of Barcelona
- University of Florida
- Lego Foundation
- Erasmus scholars from around Europe
We also regularly host visitors from around the world seeking examples of excellent education including most recently from Hong Kong; Hamatsu, Japan and Kuwait.
Along with hosting visits and taking part in International Research, we also support a school in Atewasi, Ghana. Our links in Atewasi have led to very significant improvements for our sister school including rebuilding the school after devastating storms, providing electricity and creating clean water systems. Over the years colleagues from Atewasi have visited us and colleagues from Bar Hill have visited them. Our relationship is more than sending money – we share our lives in the spirit of our school value of love.
