What do Governors do?

  • provide a strategic view of where the school is heading.
  • act as a ‘critical friend’ to the school.
  • hold the school to account for the educational standards it achieves and the quality of education it provides.

Governors do not:

  • manage the school on a day-to-day basis.
  • provide specific guidance on teaching.
  • support the school so much that they cannot identify possible improvements.
