  Mortal engines
By
Philip Reeve

The book is about a boy called Tom a girl called Hester and another girl called Katherine. This book is set after the 50-century. Cities eat each other and move around on wheels! The lord mayor of London has a mad plan to take over the whole of the universe but gets Valentine [Katharine's dad] to do all the dirty work for him. This means he has to kill Hester's mum and dad. Hester wants revenge but when tom stops here Valentine pushes them of London. They have to get back and say what relay happened.

I thought this book was relay good but was quite sad and there was a lot of killing.

Stormchaser
 By
Paul Stewart and Chris Riddle

The second in a searies of books by the authers with more brilliant drawings and more exciting adventures.

In this book twig forfills his dream of becoming a sky pirate.  But what horrble things will he have to do to be a proper sky pirate?  And lots of secrets will be uncovered?

I didnt actually enjoy the book that much and found it quite boring.  Out of the 8 people on the front cover at the end there was only 3 still alive!

The Amber Spyglass

The Amber Spyglass is the third book in the series of three books by Philip Pullman and it is very good book as well!

In this book Lyra and Will travel to lots of different worlds including the world of the dead. They meet lots of new friends and some old ones too!

This book is extremely well written but some of the words are so imaginative  they can be quite hard to read! You need to be a very good reader to read it and concentrate a lot.

This book has a very sad ending and made me cry but if you want to know the ending you will have to read the book!

Good night Mister Tom
By
Michelle Magorian

Good Night Mister Tom is about a boy called Will who is evacuated from London in the second world war. He goes to live with a old man called mister Tom. Will has been treated badly by his mum  and that means that he is scared of  every body and can’t read or write. Mister Tom helps him to make friends and enjoy his life.

I thought this book was a very good read but the language was a bit old fashioned so it was a bit difficult to understand. It doesn’t have any pictures in so if you like picture book’s this probably not the book for you. Also the book is quite difficult to read so you have to be a good reader. The book is quite a sad story and quite a long book.

Beyond The Deep Wood’s
by
Chris Riddle and Paul Stewart

Beyond The Deep Woods is the  first in a series of three books. They have really good illustrations and is really well written.

The book is about a boy called Twig. He lives with a family of wood trolls ,but he is very different to all of them and doesn’t fit in then he finds out that they aren’t really his family so he leaves to fined his family.

This book I thought was very good and is probably suitable for children age 9+. It is very imaginative with brilliant drawings. I would definitely recommend this book to other people.
