Key Stage One have been working extremely hard this half term and making fantastic progress in their learning! We have been busy learning about our topic “Into the Night” which included learning about nocturnal animals, the Northern Norwegian city of Tromso and Light and Dark. The children loved the visit from the Raptor Foundation. Y2 children dissected owl pellets to learn about what owls eat and all of Key Stage One saw a wonderful flying display by the different owls. Unfortunately one little owl decided to be a bit cheeky and stay high up on the window sill, but eventually he came down!
The Year 2 children have been working hard on their SATs. As we said in the SATs meeting, their results are teacher assessed and so the marks they get in the official tests are only one bit of evidence towards the mark we give them that will be reported to you on their end of Year report. You can help your child achieve by continuing to read with them and help them with the homework activities. Thank you so much for your support with this.
Their Discovery Detectives project for the Summer Term is to complete a Science Investigation. It does not have to be complicated (in fact keeping it simple with be much better for them to be able to talk about) and the internet has hundreds of ideas. Here are some good websites to get you started.
We have also now subscribed to Mathletics for Key Stage One. Their website can be accessed here http://www.mathletics.co.uk/
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to another great half term to finish off the year!
