This academic year we welcome Lynne Morris and Lauren Binnie to our team. We continue to run four classes in the Infants, two Year 1 and two Year 2. This year Rachel Bloom becomes Area Leader.
This half term our topic is ‘Marvellous Me’.
Year One will be looking at the human body, labelling different body parts and learning about their jobs. Year Two will be focusing more on how to keep healthy and look after ourselves. We will be looking at the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise and investigating the effect exercise has on our bodies.
The topic will also involve learning about ourselves, our families and where we live. We will be making family trees and maps of our school and our local area.
As last year our teaching will still focus around our living values of Love, Honesty, Respect, Kindness and Equality. This year we will also be introducing the children to our new learning values – Optimism, Determination, Resilience, Initiative, Curiosity and Responsibility. We will be looking at each value in turn, talking about what they mean and thinking of ways the children can reflect the values in their behaviour and attitude towards their learning.
We welcome parent helpers in the classroom, particularly to hear children read. If you have some spare time and would like to volunteer please see your child’s class teacher.
