We also care for the environment as we encourage and promote children and adults to cycle! Last year we worked very hard to gain our Bronze and Silver Bike It Award. We also managed to get a grant to build new bike sheds for the Year 5 and 6s (we were very popular!). In December 2012, we were awarded a large shelter for parents as a result as our continuing good work promoting Bike It.
For the past two years we have taken part in ‘The Big Pedal’ where, for two weeks, every child and adult at school is encouraged to cycle as part of a nationwide competition. This year we organised a ‘Bike a Mile’ at the end of the two weeks to coincide with Sport Relief.
Sustran cycle champion, Maya helped us to lead several exciting events. Every child could complete an assault course to test their cycling skills or take part in ‘Love your Bike’ on Valentines Day by giving it a good wash!
We have invited in John Stanley, the new Sustran cycle champion, and are planning several fun events for this school year.
Our leader is Mrs Tabram (Year 6 and Deputy Head).
Our Bike It Crew are:
Olivia Thorpe, Dan Cundy, Kaz McRobbie, Kieran Marsh and Charlie Satchell. (Year 5/6)
