Dear Parents

School Fun Day – This Saturday, 12 Noon
We are looking forward to our annual School Fun Day and Barbecue on Saturday. Thank you to everyone who has donated items towards this event. It should be a lovely day.

Bouncing For Books – Tomorrow
We are sending home another sponsor form for the sponsored bounce tomorrow.  In order for your child to take part they must return the form signed by you.  NO FORM – NO BOUNCE!

The teachers in each class will calculate how much each class raised and be talking to the children about which books they might choose for the classroom.

Office Closed Tomorrow – Friday, 25th September
The office will be closed tomorrow as Mrs Lewney is not in.  Any items for the fun day should be taken to your child’s class teacher.

Also, a reminder that the school office is closed on Tuesday afternoons.

PTA AGM
This will be held this Tuesday, 29th September at 7.30pm.
There will be wine and cheese.  It would be lovely to see as many families as possible there.

Individual and Family Photographs
These will take place on Thursday, 1st October.  Letters will be coming home with the children tomorrow.

Harvest Festival
All grandparents and senior citizens are warmly invited to attend our Harvest Celebration.

It will be held on Thursday, 8thOctober at 2.00pm in the school hall followed by tea and cakes for them in the studio.

We will be collecting food items for the Cambridge Food Bank.  They distribute food that has been collected to:  elderly people, people with learning difficulties and disabilities, homeless shelters and women and children in refuge centres.

Types of food that can be effectively distributed include tinned and packet foods, sugar, tea, coffee, pasta, rice and cereals.  Thank you for your support.

Also, any flowers you can donate will be given as a posy to any grandparent or senior citizen who comes to the assembly.

Could anyone help on that afternoon to put the posies together and/or help with the teas and coffees?  If you could, please let the office know.

Vacancy
Finally, the after school club ‘The Playstation’ has a part-time vacancy for a Play Worker.  If you or someone you know is interested, phone Patsy Ostler on 01954-201079 for more details.

Yours sincerely

Dear Parents

Welcome back!  I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday with your family.

The children have all settled in very well and we welcome several new families who have returned to Bar Hill.  We also extend a warm welcome to all our new reception children and their parents.

We also welcome our reception/year 1 teacher, Lis Hackett.

Thank You
Pauline Stelmaszuk asked me to thank the parents, children, PTA, governors and staff for all her wonderful leaving gifts.  She was very touched by everyone’s kindness and is thoroughly enjoying her retirement.

Office Hours
From next week the school office will be closed on Tuesday afternoons.

Otherwise, the school office is open from 8.35 to 9.10am in the mornings and 3.00 to 3.30pm in the afternoons.  Other than an emergency, could parents please refrain from coming at other times to the office.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Uniform and water bottles are only sold on Wednesdays during the above times.

Parent Mail
If you would like to receive letters and school information by email, go to: www.parentmail.co.uk, then to ‘about us’, then to ‘register’ and follow the directions.  This way you will receive newsletters, menus, and other information if your child forgets to bring them home.

Reminder
During the first three weeks of May children in all year groups [except reception and year 1] throughout England take assessment tests.  Year 2 and 6 children are also taking their national SATs tests.  Please note these dates down.

Healthy Eating Tuck Shop
This has restarted on Wednesday mornings during break.  Fruit and drinks are 25p.  It was so popular this week we sold out.

Healthy Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club runs every morning Monday to Friday.  Parents can drop their children off at the school from 7.45am.  The cost of breakfast and childcare is £2.50 per day.  Parents can use it on a regular basis or a one off basis.

Children who attend really enjoy it as they also play games with Kevin and sometimes do some cooking.  All ages welcome.

School Fun Day – Saturday, 26th September
We are looking forward to our annual School Fun Day and Barbecue.

The festivities start at 12.00 noon and there will be a barbecue, bar, various games, homemade cakes, cookies, lucky dips, tombola stalls, unwanted adult and children gifts, bric-a-brac, a chocolate stall and more.

We really need your support to make this event successful and appreciate as many donations of the items listed.  They can be brought to the school office from Monday and baked goods can be brought in the day before the fun day on Friday, 25th September or the following morning.

The children will also be selling the items they make during ‘Enterprise Week’.

This fun day is always a lovely celebration and we would be delighted to see you, your family and friends.

Bouncing For Books
You should have received a sponsor form for the above event.  This will be happening during the day on Friday, 25th September.  We need parents to help on the day.  Please let the school office
know if you are willing to donate an hour to help.

Regards
