Access during Building Works

Access to school during the building of the Children’s Centre

Dear Parents

As you know we are having a Children’s Centre built on our site. It will be located on the area currently covered by grass at the front of the school, in front of the school office area. As a result there will be building works which start on Tuesday 21st July and will continue until the end of April 2010.

The school office and Headteacher’s office will be relocated to the currently empty Year 5 classroom and the Deputy Head’s office respectively during the building work. The school’s front door and access to the office will be re-sited to the Year 5 classroom and may be accessed via the outside door to that classroom (currently the fire door). All visitors to the school must enter by this door and will be admitted to the main body of the school via a secure entry system. All of the gates at the front of the school will be unavailable for use with the exception of the gate leading to the Reception block. We would ask all parents and visitors to use this gate in order to visit the office. Please do not try to cross the car parks or building site to try to reach the old front door.

With many thanks for your cooperation

Lin Whyte

Dear Parents/Guardians

School Open Evening
The school will hold its annual open evening on Tuesday, 7th July from 6.00pm to 7.30pm.  Parents, grandparents and other siblings are welcome to come and look around their child’s class to celebrate their wonderful achievements.  I am sure you will be as proud of your children as we are at school.

Change Over Afternoon
This Tuesday, 7th July, the children will be going up to their new class in the afternoon and to meet their new teacher.  This is an important afternoon for them and the staff look forward to welcoming and getting to know their new children.

Absences
Please note that when you receive your child’s report there will be a section that tells you the number of absences your child has had for this academic year.

If, for instance, it says your child was absent for 10 sessions this means 5 whole days.  One day is divided into a morning session and an afternoon session.

School Meals
From September school meals will increase by 5 pence to £1.95.  Unfortunately due to the increased cost of food we have had to make the extra 5p charge.

Summer Concerts
The dates for the summer concerts are:

  • Reception – Thursday, 9th July – 2.00pm in the school hall
  • Year 1 & 2 – Monday, 6th July – 6.00pm in the main church
  • Year 3 & 4 – Monday, 13th July – 2.00 & 6.00pm in the main church

Sports Days
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 – the date is Wednesday 15th July starting at 1.30 on the school field.

End Of Term Discos
These will be held on the last day of term, Monday, 20th July in the school hall.
Tickets are now on sale from the office from 8.45am to 9.05am and 3.00pm to 3.20pm.

  • Reception/Year 1/2 Disco  -  6.00pm to 7.15pm.
  • Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 Disco  -  7.30pm to 9.00pm.
  • Year 6 Leaver’s Party  -  Saturday, 17th July from 7.00pm to 9.00pm
  • Year 6 Leaver’s Assembly – Friday, 17th July starting at 9.15am in the school hall

Water Bottles/Sun Hats/Sun Cream
Just a reminder as we have had some very hot weather and there is little shade on the playground to make sure your children come to school with all of the above.

The children can top up their water bottles throughout the day.

Indulgence Evening
A big thank you to Vanessa Pond and Lorna Adams for all of the effort they put into organising the Indulgence Evening.  Also thank you to the PTA and everyone who supported the event.  A good time was had by all.

Year 6 County Football Championship
Congratulations to Mr Herring’s team who successfully defended the Year 6 County Cup.
The following members of the team played brilliantly as a team all year long – congratulations to:

Adam Cheesley, Adam Loraine, Callum Wilson, Christian Marin, Jack Humphreys, Jack Lewin, Mason Bryden, Matt O’Sullivan, Nick Whyatt, Tom Edwards.

Well done!

Yours sincerely
