The School Fun Day was due to take place this Saturday, 12th July from 2.00pm to 6.00pm. Due to weather predictions we are postponing it until the autumn term to coincide with the school’s 40th birthday celebrations.
INSTEAD
This Friday, 11th July we will be holding an after-school fun day in the hall and studio from 3.15pm to 4.30pm.
This is Enterprise Week and the children have been making various items which were to be sold at the Saturday fun day. They will now sell their items after school on the Friday.
CAKES
We are also hoping to have a refreshment table so if you and your children have an opportunity to make or buy cakes / biscuits / popcorn for Friday we would be most appreciative. Just bring them to your child’s classroom or the school office on Friday morning.
If your child had entered the ‘Bar Hill’s Got Talent’, their entry will be carried on to the Autumn Fun Day. All year 6 children who entered are most welcome to come back and join in!
Thank you for your understanding in this.
Yours sincerely
Lin Whyte
Headteacher

Dear Parents/Guardians
Just a few messages:
1. Bicycles - A note for those children who lock their bikes to the astro turf fence - please could you ensure that Year 6 children lock their bikes in the school grounds near or in the bike sheds as we are receiving reports of bikes being tampered with.
2. Parent Drop In - These sessions continue in the community lounge/library on Friday mornings from 8.45am to 10.00am. It is a chance to meet other parents and to talk in a relaxed atmosphere. Stay for as little or as long as you like. Younger children are invited and drinks and biscuits are available.

Dear Parents
As part of your child’s Esperanto course, we would like your help with three things:
- On Friday of next week (18th January) we would like the children to bring a small gift of around 50p in value - a pencil, a rubber, a notepad, a postcard, some stickers, sweets, or similar - to send to children at partner schools in Germany and Hungary. (If it says “Cambridge” or “Great Britain” on it, so much the better!). We hope to receive something similar from the other schools too.
- Please fill in and return the permission slip below so that your child can appear in photos and videos, which we will share with the partner schools*.
- And finally, put the dates 24th to 27th August in your diary! We are organising a trip for up to 12 children, with one parent each, to visit the children at our partner school in Germany. The cost has yet to be finalised, but will probably be around £70 per person. This includes flight, train/coach transfer and accommodation. We would be staying with host families and spending a couple of days in the local school as well as fitting in some sightseeing! It is strictly on a first come first served basis but if you would like to register an interest now, please fill in the attached form and return it to the school office marked ‘Esperanto German Trip’. There will be a follow-up meeting later to give further details on the visit.

Dear Parents
Christmas is fast approaching!
Just a few notices about the run up to the end of term:
Christmas Cards
Children can start bringing in Christmas cards starting next Monday, 3rd December. A red delivery box will be in the office foyer. Can you please make sure that children put Christian name, surname and the child’s class on the envelopes. It is hard to deliver a card with just a Christian name!
Christmas Fayre
On Friday, 14th December, after school, we will be holding our annual Christmas Fayre from 3.00pm to 4.00pm. This year the PTA and children will be running various stalls.

On Friday 23rd November 2007 we will be participating in the ‘11 million takeover event’ which is about children developing leadership skills.
This will involve Year 6 pupils (they have the choice to participate or not) to put themselves into the role of Headteacher and writing a report about ‘How I would improve the School if I was the Headteacher’! The report will be 111 words long and I will need to shortlist 10 pupils. They will then have the opportunity to ’shadow’ me and amend their initial report!
