Dear Parents

Welcome back! I hope you all had an enjoyable holiday with your family.

The children have all settled in very well and we welcome several new families who have returned to Bar Hill. We also extend a warm welcome to all our new reception children and their parents.

We also welcome our new teaching staff: Kevin Herring (Year 2), Claire White (Year 3/4), Claire Poulton (Year 5) and Jenny Wilson who is supporting Year 6 and Year 3/4 on part-time basis.

Celebrations
We were delighted to learn in August that we had been awarded the Basic Skills Quality Mark Award for the second time and the British Council International Award for the third time.

Healthy Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club runs every morning Monday to Friday. Parents can drop their children off at the school from 7.45am. The cost of breakfast and childcare is £2.50 per day. Parents can use it on a regular basis or a one off basis.

Office Hours
The school office is open from 8.35 to 9.10am in the mornings and 3.00 to 3.30pm in the afternoons. Other than an emergency, could parents please refrain from coming at other times to the office.

Uniform and water bottles are only sold on Wednesdays during the above times.

Healthy Eating Tuck Shop
The tuck shop will start up again this Wednesday, 12th September during morning break. Fruit is 20p and fruit juice is 25p.

Individual and Family Photographs
Individual and family photos will be taken on Thursday, 27th September.

Parent Mail
If you would like to receive letters and school information by email, please pass on your email address to the school office and we will add you to the list.

PTA Events

Nearly New Sale
This will be held in the school hall on Saturday, 22nd September from. Doors open at 2.00pm
Family Disco
This should be a lovely family event with music, nibbles and a licensed bar. It will be held on Friday, 28th September from 7.30 to 11.30pm.
Pop Quiz
On Saturday, 13th October, the PTA will be holding its ever popular Pop Quiz.

Please come along and support your PTA.

Information Meeting
There will be an information session for parents on the following days:

• Reception Monday, 17th Sept
• Year 1/2 Tuesday, 18th Sept
• Year 3/4 Wednesday, 19th Sept
• Year 5/6 Thursday, 20th Sept

These sessions are held to help you understand the changes from one year group to the next. If you cannot make the meeting, do not hesitate to contact the class teacher for inform.

Reminder
During the first three weeks of May children in all year groups [except reception and year 1] throughout England take assessment tests. Year 2 and 6 children are also taking their national SATs tests. Year 6s SAT week is 12th - 16th May.
