Dear Parents/Carers

Happy New Year!
Welcome back to the start of our new term.  Even though it seems a long time ago I hope you had an enjoyable break with your family.  We now look forward to spring and longer days!

Absence Letters
If your child is going to be off school, please remember to phone in and leave a message either on the answer machine or with someone in the office for each day they are off.

Upon their return, please make sure your child has an absence note for the teacher which has the dates of the days they were off.

If you do not send in an absence note to the teacher it goes in as an unauthorised absence.

Dates For January 2009 to July 2009

  • February Half-Term  -  16th to 20th February
  • Spring Term Closes  -  Friday, 3rd April
  • May Day  -  Monday, 4th May
  • Summer Term Starts  -  Monday, 20th April

Year 6 Parent Pupil/Teacher Consultations are this Tuesday, 20th January.

Noro Virus
As many of you would have heard in the news there is quite a virulent vomiting and diarrhoea bug sweeping the country.

We have spoken to the children about the importance of washing their hands before eating and after using the toilet and we have provided anti-bacterial liquid soap in the toilets instead of our normal bar soap.  The children have responded very positively!

It is being recommended that if a child comes down with this virus they need to be off for 48 hours after the vomiting and diarrhoea has stopped (normally we say 24 hours).

Please can all parents make sure their children are off for the 48 hours in order to lessen the spread of this virus.  Many thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Forthcoming PTA Events

  • Friday, 30th January – Cake Stall After School
  • Saturday, 14th March – Pop Quiz (Details To Follow)
  • Saturday, 28th March – Nearly New Sale (Details To Follow)

Reminder
During the first three weeks of May children in all year groups [except reception and year 1] throughout England take assessment tests.  Year 2 and 6 children are also taking their national SATs tests.  Year 6s SAT week is 11h – 15h May.

Best wishes
