Run up to Christmas

Posted on December 3rd, 2007 by Webmaster

Dear Parents

Christmas is fast approaching!
Just a few notices about the run up to the end of term:

Christmas Cards
Children can start bringing in Christmas cards starting next Monday, 3rd December. A red delivery box will be in the office foyer. Can you please make sure that children put Christian name, surname and the child’s class on the envelopes. It is hard to deliver a card with just a Christian name!

Christmas Fayre
On Friday, 14th December, after school, we will be holding our annual Christmas Fayre from 3.00pm to 4.00pm. This year the PTA and children will be running various stalls.

As the majority of the Christmas Fayre will be based around the stalls, please could you try to donate at least two or more of the following to your child’s class or the school office:

  • Unwanted past Christmas gifts.
  • Bottles of wine/alcohol for the adult bottle tombola stall.
  • Bottles/cans of soft drinks for the children’s tombola.
  • Homemade sweets/truffles [please send in on Thursday, 13th December but let us know as soon as possible if you will be making some].
  • Toys/board games which are in a good condition.
  • Unused, unwanted candles.
  • Small items suitable for the lucky dip.
  • Homemade cakes and biscuits.

Oxfam ‘Send A Camel’ Collection
Each year at Christmas, many of you like to express your appreciation through a small gift to their child’s class teacher. Last Christmas the teachers asked for donations towards ‘Send A Camel’ through Oxfam. You raised an amazing £450! We will be doing the same this year.

Donations should be made out to Bar Hill School and put in an envelope which says ‘Christmas Donation’. Some of our younger children may prefer to give their teacher a small present instead, the choice is yours.

Reminder - Christmas Concerts
Please ensure that no photographs are taken during your child’s Christmas performance. There will be opportunities for photos after the concert.

Videos can be taken during the performance but parents must stand on the left hand side of the church only. Reception parents will need to stand at the back of the school hall, but be aware that the children will need to be able to walk up the sides of the hall and along the back. Parents will need permission from the school in order to video. Forms are available from the school office. Also, donations will be taken at each concert. Proceeds will go towards the running of each year group production.
